Who we are?
The Commonwealth Buddhist Council is a government-registered and recognized institution under Act No. PV00298721 of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, enacted in act no. 07 of 2007 and other Regional NGO registration sections of the Democratic and Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. The founding Secretary General is Dr. Samudaya Bhanuka Wimalasooriya with Founder President Most Ven. Theppanawe Piyadassi Thero in 2016. The sacred relics of the Lord Shakyamuni Buddha, which were enshrined in the land of Siam (present-day Thailand), were brought to Sri Lanka on the 13th of July 2016


The Chief Incumbent of the Raja Pujitha Bopath Samadhi Dharmayathana temple in Kuruwita, Chief Incumbent of Siripa Arama temple Kuruwita, and The chief Secretary of the Kuruwita Sāsanārakshaka Bala Mandalaya.
Chief Incumbent of Paramananda Pirivena, took over the responsibilities of the Vihara in 2007. His vision was to unite the village and the temple, sparking a religious revival.
The honourable founder/ Secretary General, Dr. Samudaya Bhanuka Wimalasooriya was born in Matara, Sri Lanka. His primary and secondary education was done at Rahula College, Matara.
