The Lord Buddha's 
Sacred Relics

Donated by the Thai Monk Most Ven. Lun Ben Phu with several temples in Thailand to the Commonwealth Buddhist Council of Sri Lanka, are currently enshrined at the main temples in Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Italy. The most sacred relic is named the Skull bone relic of Buddha. (Sheersha Dathuwa)

The Commonwealth Buddhist Council is a government-registered and recognized institution under Act No. PV00298721 of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, enacted in act no. 07 of 2007 and other Regional NGO registration sections of the Democratic and Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.  

Carried out numerous religious and Social Service Activities
Among the most significant is the enshrinement of the established Ūrṇaloma Dhātu, which holds the highest commercial value in the world, at the Sri Sudarshanārama Viharaya in Urumutta 

About Us

The Commonwealth Buddhist Council is a Government-registered and recognized institution under Act No. PV00298721 of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, enacted in act no. 07 of 2007 and other Regional NGO registration sections of the Democratic and Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.  The founding Secretary General is Dr. Samudaya Bhanuka Wimalasooriya with Founder President Most Ven. Theppanawe Piyadassi Thero in 2016. The sacred relics of the Lord Shakyamuni Buddha, which were enshrined in the land of Siam (present-day Thailand), were brought to Sri Lanka on the 13th of July 2016.

We were able to provide financial assistance to the Eye Clinic patients and the Orthopedic and Disability Care Unit of Matara General Hospital, as well as to offer sanitary facilities to the Maternity Intensive Care Unit and the Eye Ward of the General Hospital of Matara

The Council has made significant contributions across the country by donating sacred relics for enshrinement at 16 leading temples, including Methmuni Seya in Alawwa, Ranawiru Seya in Ampara , each intended for their stupas (Chaitya Rajayas).

Free Access to Online Higher Education
In recognition of religious, national, and social contributions, both members of the Maha Sangha and laypersons have been honored with awards of appreciation. As well as the emergency insurance coverage was granted to 1,000 Dhamma school students and 250 Dhamma school teachers. In support of the advancement of the Sāsana, the Council raised 12 million in 2024 and 8 million in 2023

The Council raised 12 million in 2024 and 8 million in 2023. Furthermore, educational materials were distributed to children from underprivileged families, ensuring support for their learning needs. We take humble pride in all these accomplishments.

our Council carried out numerous religious and social service activities. Among the most significant is the enshrinement of the established Ūrṇaloma Dhātu, which holds the highest commercial value in the world, at the Sri Sudarshanārama Viharaya in Urumutta and which is made by 108 of Natural Gem stones, Gold, and Silver with an amazing 192-carat Violet Amethyst Crystal, and It was enshrined on the forehead urna (nālaltala) of a 108-foot-tall Buddha statue adorned with 88 riyans of height.
